Merveilleuse

Long costume bustier dress and lined jacket.

I wanted a costume that would blend poetry, elegance and sequins.

And then Mardi Gras was nearly upon us, and soon trainee princesses would be demanding their sparkling outfit...

So today I present you with an outfit comprising a dress (that twirls, of course) and a jacket (because carnival always takes place outside!  And we've had enough of princesses feeling cold!)

Here is my version of Merveilleuse, with Amazon styling for my pony-mad daughter.

The dress is made up of an elasticated bustier for extra comfort, with narrow straps.

A dream catcher is appliquéd on the front to ward off evil spirits.

The skirt is full with a hem that ends in points.

The waist is highlighted by a sash that ties at the back.

A fully lined jacket covers miss’s shoulders and lends a touch of elegance.

This version of the jacket is edged with fur but it could be replaced by simple piping or by a braid.

The jacket is open at the back with two gathered panels showing glimpses of the dress.

It can be cinched in with a sash.

I can also picture it in pale pink without the sparkles for a ballerina look..

And then of course maybe a black version for Halloween...
